Meet Anita

Leadership for the Lakeshore

West Michigan’s Lakeshore has been my home with my husband of 37 years, Michael J. Brown. Throughout these years, we’ve expanded our roots in this community to include our 5 children and 17 grandchildren.

As a total outdoorsy-lady, one of my favorite activities is running. So, when other’s encouraged me to run for 89th District Representative, I knew I was up for the challenge.

I’ve spent my life living, loving, learning, and serving in the community. Dedicated to lifelong learning, I’ve graduated with multiple degrees and am working toward a new certification. My lifetime has been spent serving our area as a Foster Care worker, Counselor, Therapist, Relief Youth Specialist, and In-School Suspension Supervisor, to name a few

My elder grandchildren are always trying to convince me that the internet is the “key to the world.” And, while I acknowledge its importance, I value the authenticity of time spent in-person. I love being directly involved in my grandchildren’s lives and due to COVID and everyone’s crazy schedules, I am embracing tech as a way to keep in touch via FaceTime.

While my qualifications and experiences vary greatly, the unifying value has been my desire to promote and nurture the emotional and social development of all families and children.

And, I promise you, if I am elected, I will continue my stellar record of service to this community.

“As a business owner, mother, and resident of the Lakeshore, I know that our leadership at every level matters. It is important to me that the person who represents me and the rest of the 89th District in the Michigan State House has the variety of experience to address both challenges and growth.

Anita is that person. She brings experience in fields critical to the well-being of every day citizens. She cares about each person she will represent, regardless of political orientation, race, or creed. She brings her whole self into her work. I believe she is the right person for the job, and am happy to endorse her.”

“It is important to me for congressional candidates to truly understand their community, both it’s successes and struggles.

I believe that Anita has the qualifications and characteristics necessary to truly fight for the 89th District.”
